At-home proposal ideas
Plans that use a room you already have, a meal, and almost no vendors.

Home is the easiest place to control and the easiest place to be interrupted. Decide who else has a key.
A simple shape
- Pick a room with a door.
- Use one thing they already like: a meal, a record, a book, the dog's walk afterward.
- Say the question before you present a stack of decorations. Decor can wait until you know the answer.
- If you want a photo, take one yourselves. A hidden photographer inside a small apartment is hard to hide and easy to make awkward.
Pets
Give the pet a job they know. A walk, a toy, sitting on a couch. Do not hand them a ring box unless you have rehearsed that exact motion. There is no reliable trick that works for every animal.
Kids in the house
If children live with you, decide whether they are in the room. If they are, give them a short, true role ("come in when I open the door") and a plan for the hour after, including snacks. If they are not, they need to be with someone who knows the timing.
Money
The "under $500" label on this site is a planning bucket, not a statistic. Groceries, a dessert, and a cab can fit in it. A florist, a neon sign, and a photographer are separate quotes. Get those yourself. (to verify)
After
You do not need a second event the same night. Leaving the house for a walk is enough.
